Following on from a very successful launch year for the new range of aluminium catamarans, a further two Buddy's were shipped this week, destined for Melbourne Australia. Despite building some 80 craft to date for operation world-wide, this was Water Witch's first delivery to Australia. Built for Parks Victoria, Melbourne, the craft will ensure that the waters of the prestigious Harbour are kept safe and free of litter and debris for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.
Built to Australian USL (Uniform Shipping Laws) rules for commercial vessels and standards for the construction of aluminium boats, the two craft were designed for economical shipping in a 40ft container. Equipped with removable litter collection baskets, deck plates, navigation lights and protective sun canopy, the craft will be fitted with engines and on-board safety gear in Melbourne.
The craft were shipped some three weeks ahead of schedule and will be in operation when Melbourne hosts another big marine event - the Volvo Round the World Yacht Race.
